Web Development/Programming
Linux, CSS, SQL, XHTML, Ruby
Database / Ecommerce Type
We’re looking for a Junior to Mid-level Rails programmer who can workoff-site, but with supervision from an experienced Rails programmer. The
lead programmer is designing an online application using Ruby on Rails,
that will integrate many of the online tools, sites and databases that we
access in our daily work. It will become a hub for our employees, and will
eventually have additional versions built to accomodate other groups of
users (clients, vendors).
The person we’re looking for has front end web development experience in
designing, building, testing and deploying websites. Ideal candidate is
+ proficient with Linux and Ruby, and comfortable with XHTML, CSS, and SQL.
+ Familiarity with SOAP/REST, AJAX, and JavaScript
This project could involve the user-interface design, in addition to the application development, for the right person. Lead programmer has established framework, and will have 10 hours per week to give instructions, train you if needed, and review your work, so your workload could vary from 20-40 hours per week. The beta
version of this application needs to launch in January, and there is the opportunity to work on future releases.
This could be an exciting opportunity for someone who is eager to gain more
Rails experience and work with a dynamic virtual team. If you believe that
you have the skills, can work independently but also closely follow
directions from the lead programmer, then we would love to hear more about
your background and skills. Please write a brief note articulating your
interest and your desired hourly rate, attach your resume and code samples,
and include a link to websites that you’ve built and developed in the past
which showcase your skills.

I own a Chicago-based offshore development firm and I think we might be a good fit, but I can’t say for sure. We have decent experience in RoR. Our rates are from $15-$25 per hour depending on the nature of the engagement… I can send you references when you reply to this message.
You probably get 100 calls a week from “Bob’s from Bangalore” but many offshore firms are little more than ’software sweatshops’ that over-promise and under-deliver. Most companies we talk to have gotten burned when going offshore, or are disgruntled to say the least.
We’re not for everyone and we only work with clients that demand high quality and are willing to pay for it. I created a silly blog making fun of the entire outsourcing industry (SoftwareSweatshop.com) Finding good developers isn’t hard, but finding reliable developers is.
Outsourcing is about high value, not low cost. We don’t take our selves too seriously but are dead serious about what we do. Give me a shout if you think it makes sense to chat.
Thanks,
Raza

I have heard that this website is wonderful, but after visiting it I’ll disagree with most of the people, who think so. Yes, there is some fresh and interesting information but most of it looks unprsentable. There are so many ways to check information, haven’t you heard of it? After trying it several times I realized, that it’s not unique.
