Static Site Update-368791

Websites-Database/Ecommerce (Dynamic)

Apache, Eclipse, possibly Rational Application Developer.

We are an IBM Business Partner. We are their largest Distributor for printing-related products (hardware, software, supplies, upgrades and on-site service).

Our current website is in need of an update (www.valcomp.com). We have posted a temporary ‘test” site at 216.249.7.10

*** The scope-of-work for the immediate project includes TWO phases. A third phase described below will be completed at a later date (May/Jun 2008).

** Phase One (strictly static)
We need help configuring Apache (2.x) on WinXP to provide authenticated, authorized access to the static HTML site (password protection). We don’t expect that we need SSL or other higher-end security, but we are open to it if the costs can be justified.

We also want to use Eclipse (or if possible, Rational Application Developer, which is IBM’s branded Eclipse product) to manage the site. I would like to have a clean left-side navigation frame, just basic graphics and a repository for downloadable files.

Customers with a password (perhaps 20 companies…) will access a set of price-pages that include both “list prices” and “discounted prices”. Customers without a password will initially be refused access; at a later time they will be directed to an alternative set pages.

*** Phase Two (some dynamic components)
The second phase will have as its objective the building of a dynamic site (web-store, with some configuration “this goes with that” logic). The output of the “order now” button will be an emailed text file which we will parse into our home-grown DB/2-based ERP/CRM application. We would also like to have an “inventory lookup” capability that will query our DB/2 backend for inventory stock / availability.

** Phase Three (NOT INCLUDED in the current mandate)
Truly dynamic real-time access to DB/2 would come only in a third phase. This would involve real-time configuration and access to our ERP/CRM application. ** This third phase is NOT NOT NOT included in the scope of work represented here. Your bid should include work only for Phase 1 and Phase 2.

The file attached is a .WAR file exported from Rational Application Developer. It should be viewable on Eclipse as well.

The best thing I can do for this wonderful source is to say that I’m a biggest fan of this website
